Eat Taste Heal Cookbook Review

At the beginning of April I shared a recipe for Red Lentil Dhal from the cookbook Eat Taste Heal by Thomas Yarema, Daniel Rhoda, and Chef Johnny Brannigan. I love Eat Taste Heal so much that I want to give you a better idea of what the book covers and the types of recipes that are included.

Eat Taste Heal is broken into two major parts. Part One is The Guidebook. Ayurveda in introduced with an explanation of the basic concepts relating to the science. The authors explain the difference between the doshas (constitutions), how to include the six tastes in each meal, using the rhythms of nature as a part of your lifestyle, and exploring food as medicine. This is all covered in 165 pages so you will have plenty to think about!

The second major part of Eat Taste Heal is where the recipes are introduced. There are basic recipes which are easy to make everyday and can by incorporated into your regular meal plans once you are sure you know how to make them. This is a good section to kick off your Ayurvedic cooking experiences. The recipes are organized by dosha so if you know you are Pitta you can go to the Pitta section to find recipes that are good for your body type. The next section in Part Two are the expanded recipes. These are great, more elaborate recipes!

Eat Taste Heal is a great cookbook for anyone interested in living a healthier lifestyle and making whole foods to nourish your body! The pictures are so beautiful that they will have your mouth watering by the end. Some of the recipes I've made from Eat Taste Heal are Cream of Asparagus Soup, Sweet Potato and Butternut Squash with Parsley and Thyme, Roasted Leek and Fennel Bisque, Green Beans and Carrots with Fried Almonds, Broiled Salmon with Almond Dill Sauce, and Chicken Tikka. But there are so many great recipes that I can't wait to try more!

Question of the Day: What is your favorite cookbook right now?
