Banana Oatmeal Pancakes

The past few mornings Ollie, our golden retriever, has been waking me up around 5:45 for his breakfast. We usually don't get up until 6:20 so his early wake up isn't my favorite thing. Ollie's morning ritual always starts with going over to one side of the bed and putting his front feet up on the bed (which he isn't allowed on.) He slides his feet over as far as he can while keeping his back feet on the floor, while his tail wags back and forth. I push him off and he comes over to my side and sticks his cold, wet nose under the covers.

Ollie's Favorite Dog Biscuits

Ollie is one of the best kitchen helpers. He sits by the door and watches my every move. I'm convinced that if he only had opposable thumbs he would be a great cook. Unlike many other dogs I've spent lots of time around he is not very good at cleaning things up that drop on the floor. If I drop anything, even cheese, he doesn't run right over and gobble it up. I have to call him over and point it out a few times. Even then he still looks at me like he is asking "Mom, are you sure you want me to eat that?"

Adventures with Ollie: Photo Booth

It's been a while since I wrote about Ollie.  A few weeks ago Steve and I were sitting on the couch with a few inches between us and Ollie decided he wanted to sit in those few inches.  As he was climbing up I pulled out the camera and got a sequence of pictures.  They really show how much energy and love this dog has.  We are so happy he is a part of our family! We hope you enjoy and have a little laugh.

Adventures with Ollie: Swimming, The Vet, and The Bathroom

Ollie had a lot of firsts with us this week.  Well it wasn't his first time doing many of the things but they were firsts for us together as a family.  We took him to meet the vet and ask a few questions.  Ollie was so excited to meet new people and smell all the exciting doggy smells.  He had to say hi to everyone and was so happy to be on an adventure.

Adventures with Ollie: He is a Hunter

Ollie searching for more rats
This week we learned that Ollie is a hunter.  We maybe not an actual hunter than does the killing but he does manage to bring dead animals to us.  For two afternoons in a row Ollie has been playing out in the fenced in yard and come to the back door with a dead rat.  We know they are two different dead rats because Steve was nice enough to put the first one on the trash.

Adventures with Ollie: One Week Together

Ollie has been a part of our family for one week now.  It's been a great week and we have all learned a lot.  I haven't started working yet so most days I am home with Ollie while Steve is at work. It's really nice for everyone that we are getting that time together.  I'm excited to start teaching some yoga classes next week but am happy that my first week working I will only be teaching 3 classes before my schedule goes to more than 6 a week.  It will give both Ollie and I some time to adjust.

Here are some notes from our past week together:

Adventures with Ollie: Welcome Home

On Thursday September 13, 2012 Steve and I drove to Round Rock, TX (just north of Austin) to get our newest family member: Ollie.  He was living with his foster moms for the past month after he was found wandering around San Antonio.  He was very happy to come to his new home with us are we are SO happy to have him.
