One Year Ago Today

A year ago today I started a very important journey in my life...it was Yoga Teacher Training.  On our first Wednesday class I was nervous, anxious, and excited because I had no idea what to expect from the experiences I was about to have.  Little did I know how much the months that followed would change my life.  When I started teacher training I had been practicing yoga for just under a year and a half.  I my mind that was a very short amount of time considering a lot of the people I was doing the training with had been practicing for 5, 10 or even 15 years.  It was intimidating to walk into a classroom where I was younger than everyone by at least 10 years and to think that I had less experience than they all did.

When I graduated YTT
Looking back on it I believe that being so new to yoga helped me be a great student and then teacher of yoga. Because I hadn't been practicing for years I didn't have methods for doing certain poses set in my mind. I was more open to new experiences because I didn't have as many of them in my memory. I am very thankful that I decided to do teacher training when I was so young and inexperienced! If you ever think you are too young or inexperienced to do something I recommend going for it because it will change your life forever.

My idea of difficult yoga changed because of teacher training. When I started I thought to be an advanced student you needed to be able to do handstand, headstand, and other impressive poses.  But now I know that there are many other poses that are more challenging.  And most importantly I learned that doing yoga isn't about just getting into a pose. There is so much more!

I'm so thankful that I had the support of my family and friends to travel on my journey of YTT! I couldn't have done it without your support and love. Here's to many of years of being a student and teacher of yoga!
