Adventures with Ollie: Swimming, The Vet, and The Bathroom

Ollie had a lot of firsts with us this week.  Well it wasn't his first time doing many of the things but they were firsts for us together as a family.  We took him to meet the vet and ask a few questions.  Ollie was so excited to meet new people and smell all the exciting doggy smells.  He had to say hi to everyone and was so happy to be on an adventure.

We also took Ollie to the off leash dog park for the first time.  He had a blast running around with the other dogs.  He made friends with all of them except for the two great danes who just stared at him and didn't pay him as much attention as he wanted.  He eventually gave up trying to play with them and went to make other friends.

The Community Center in town had their Barktoberfest on Saturday.  There were a bunch of booths selling dog goods but Ollie's favorite part was that the town's water park was open for the dogs.  He was able to get off the leash and swim and play and run around.  This is the happiest I've ever seen him.   He had a huge grin on his face the whole time.  Some of the time he was playing catch with the other dogs but for a little while he went out on his own and swam some laps, well really circles.  He was very content to just be in the water swimming and didn't need much more entertainment but the other dogs were just an added bonus.

When we went to the grocery store we put Ollie in our bedroom, just like we do every time we leave the house without him.  After shopping I came into the house and went to the room to let him out. I opened the door and searched all over the room, including under the bed, but Ollie wasn't there. I came back out to see if Steve had snuck past me and let him out.  When he said he hadn't I was perplexed about what happened and a little nervous. I went back into the bed room and figured it should check the closet and bathroom which we keep closed so Ollie won't go in.  I opened the bathroom door and Ollie came right out.  He was very happy to see us and nothing was touched so he was a very good boy when he was in there. We assume the door wasn't latched and when he push on the door with his nose to go explore the door closed behind him and I couldn't get back out.  Silly dog!
